Do you ask this because you don't know or you just want to see if people know anything about Romania?
Anyone really. really broad question since you're talking about more than 2000 years of history.
one thing though on the whole Dracula thing: the true Dracula - Prince Vlad Tepes - did not live in Translyvania though he was born there. And he was not a vampire.

It's not far from Ukraine.. Drakula is from there.. and there's a lot of police equiped with AK:)
