I have noticed that society seems to be excusing people's outrageous behaviors and wrong doing's on rap. Soon as an issue arises its always about rap contents and lyrics. No one mentions anything about other genres of music. Does rap suggest violence? Is it the cause of violence and mishaps around the world? Is rap a negative influence? If so, why do you think it's the focal point in every aspect and is connect and associated with everything negative?

I have to address what "Destroy" said about this issue. You were so wrapped up in getting out what YOU personally thought about rap and that was not my question! I did not ask you whether rappers were talented or not. There are many talented rappers and all of them do not talk about bling, bling and women. There's Common, Talib Kwali, The Roots, Mos Def....need I go on? What people have to understand is that rap is entertainment and there are many categories to discuss. If every rapper or any artist period discussed the same thing we would get tired of it. Music is versatile so we need that variety, we need diffrent styles from 50cent to LL Cool J, from Lil john to nelly, form Busta Rymes to Nas and Jay z. Hip-hop is a well rounded culture and so is it's music. We don't always want to hear about politics and serious things just like we dont always want to hear about "bling bling"! My point is that there is negative & positive rap music, in any type of music and in every aspect of life.

This occurs because greedy record execs and "unconscious" artists use shock value to make money off of their music. The only way to get the maximum shock value is to fill their music with negative stereotypes and course language. The commercial music industry is in the age of money, sex and violence so this is what most prominent artists display through their music. You are right though in saying that it isn't fair that most people only point to rap/hip-hop as the purveyors of such behavior. Rock/alternative and heavy-metal can also push negative ideas but they aren't as mainstream as rap that is why rap takes all the blame. Most artists lose a lot of their creative control when they sign with a major label thus falling to the whim of the record company CEO's. These CEO could care less about the effect their decisions on content and subject matter have on a generation (especially younger audiences), they only look at the bottom line, how may units can they sell, what are the sound scan numbers etc. Personally, I support underground and indie artists because the vast majority of these artists are not being influenced by the almighty dollar. Their music in general doesn't push the sex, money and violence themes that some mainstream music does because they have total creative control of their own music. Until people stop being impressed with the ills of society and artists and CEO's stop being greedy, rap will always be a scapegoat.
Support underground hip-hop :)

I'm a white guy, so you're not gonna like my answer, but sit back for a moment and take a look at the lyrical content of most rap and hip-hop music....whenever I've bought an album because I liked one or two songs, I've found that I just couldn't take the rest of the album. It's not just a black thing. My Japanese friend likes hip-hop a lot, but his eminem CD was just making my head hurt. Again, I don't totally dislike the genre, I like more than a few songs by eminem. But when I explained the lyrics to my friend, he couldn't believe it.
As for rap being the scapegoat, well, I hope people don't go and try to act out everything they see and hear in the media. However, rap and hip-hop does seem to spell out the artists aspirations quite clearly even as opposed to other types of music. The lyrical content seems to be sex, my money, sex, some violence, sex, more of my money and why that makes me so great, sex......you get the point.

hiya guy, I have been given some unhappy information for you. Rap will by no skill die. this is a legacy of storytelling, stressful cases and actual life - no longer what the media chooses to document ((Fox information)). i may well be attentive to the way you do in comparison to in the present day's rap song, because of the fact yeah for the main section its each of an identical and a significant mockery of artists like NWA and Slick Rick. yet once you hear to something >1998, you will see that the song many times reflects actual life, and the song became right into a fashion show this actuality to the worldwide. Grandmaster Flash as quickly as reported "broken glass everywhere, human beings pissing on the stairs, you be attentive to they simply Dont care, I cant take the scent, I cant take the noise have been given no money to pass out, i assume I have been given no selection. Rats in the lounge, roaches in the back, Junkies in the alley with a baseball bat. i attempted to flee, yet I couldnt get some distance reason the guy with the tow-truck repossessed my vehicle" That lyric describes the cruel actuality of the cases he lived in. He became into conversing approximately being caught in some run-down house with gangs and medicines and whores everywhere because of the fact a racist society of the day does not provide them a first rate activity. "they say u.s. is the land of the loose, however the 1st undertaking I'v seen became into slavery" -- MC Ren Hip Hop will by no skill die. actual Hip Hop, it is. in case you do no longer like it, it is nice. yet till you're taking a glance at what it is fairly approximately, do no longer talk SMACK!

People have always done that. In the 50's they blamed rock and roll for the decline of teenagers. In the 60-70's they blamed music for drugs and radical thinking. In the 80's they blamed heavy metal for violence and suicide. Music isn't making society worse it is actually a reflection of the times. Some people just prefer to look at it backwards.

They used to do the same thing to METAL. Right now Hip Hop is the dominate style of music as they have been for 14 or 15 years. Thus they are taking the heat. It has been the same at least since the days of Elvis.

This debate has been going on for years and years, since the days of Tupac and Biggie. It's easy to blame everything that happens on TV and music yet people are never willing to take the blame for their own actions. Everybody has free will, we either choose to do something or not... it's not because Eminem says that he wants to staple his nuts to the table that you're going to do it, is it? plus these guys have to seem tough because that's the genre of the music, most of them came out of tough lives and now have made something of themselves so why not concentrate on that rather that on how many times 50 was shot?

Point1: Rappers seem to excel in their careers with felonies.
Point2: It's hypocritical, so you can say ****** left and right, but If I say I'm a racist.
Point3:There's little to no talent invovled, preprogrammed beats and words that on some level might rhyme.

Move with the wind and flow not against the tide, StormyRain, or else you get flat or drowned and find yourself in a state of confusion, as you seem to be now!
