How many of us has read the pledge "India is my country, All Indians are my brothers and sisters......." after leaving our schools?
How many of us know it by heart?
How many of us really sing the national anthem (Jana Gana Mana) from their heart - not as a mere ritual?
How many of us know the meaning of national anthem?
How many of us participate in the Independence day or Republic day celebrations with a real spirit of nationalism and not as a mere ritual?
How many of us treat these national days as special and how many of us treat these days just as any other holiday?
The count of these "How many" is very less indeed, in fact NEGLIGIBLE.
So why such a hue and cry on singing or not singing of Vante Matram??????????

I Agree.
Singing or not singing is my choice......as long as i respect the song, no one should dictate me what to do.

I don't read it now but while in school, I used to 'repeat' it not 'read' it.
I know it by heart.
I sing it with by heart. In fact, I get goosebumps when I listen 2 it or sing it.
I know the meaning.Well, it's in Hindi.Plus, I've learnt the meaning while in school.
I do.I might miss normal school days but I'll never miss a day of national importance.I remember attending Independence Day when I had fever.
I treat it as a special day.I'm not a person who'll get up early in the morning. But on these days I do get up.I watch the parade telecast on TV.I pledge 2 do something 4 the country.
U might think these r mere dialogues & that I'm exaggerating. But this is a fact.I really feel proud on these days.
U might think the count is negligible b'coz "Birds of the same Feather Flock 2gether". U r surrounded by unpatriotic ppl like u. If u r an Indian, do us a Favour - GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE!
Vande Mataram is symbolic of our patriotism, stuggle 4 independence & unity. U think singing it is not imp.,huh? BTW, how many times have we sung it? Very rarely.
Did u notice 1 thing - where did all this controversy come suddenly frm? While in school, we never had these controversies.

Dear bro,
I dont think that there are "negligible" people who have read the pledge or who know the meaning of the National Anthem.
I too am one of them who come in this category.
As far as Vande Matram is concerned, the hue and cry on its singing is only politics. If u are a true indian u would have surely sung "Vande Matram" today. At present, we need strictness in our country. Today if the govt does not act strictly, partiotism khatam ho jayega. If 2morrow some1 says that he wants to host the Pakistani or Chinese flag on terraces, will the govt allow him?? Patriotism and Nationalism is needed in the indian youth in this scenario and this step was needed.

A song should generate love and passion spontaneously from the bottom of your heart.I can see tremendous amount of love and pride overflowing when i sing "Sare Jahan Se Achha". I can feel the passion and peace when i sing my Tamil song "Thamizhukkum Amudhendru paer".Unfortunately Jana Gana Mana and Vande Mataram do not arouse such passion, even if i try very hard. This is like a passionate, beautiful, young girl forcibly given in marriage to an impotent man.

,
Dear,

what you ask is true, mind it many dint remember & true to the above you asked. Many are busy to make a living, dont bother about important dates & names & songs, minimum good citigen responsiblities too..You may not be suprised they even forget to remember their birthdays to celebrate, in their busy life....ok.
not remembering is ok.
Suprised to know but why so much of opposition to sing this song in schools, to mark a celebration. We never think by singing this song all will become Patriatic persons, as our politician do tell lot of good words & do exactly opposite.

Why you oppose it so much, by just singing this song in schools you loose nothing. This is only occation to celebrate & preach ,imbibe pro indianess in children of all religions
Pl. keep religion out of this isssue .

This opposition is no good.At the same time not singing this song by general public cannot be treated as anti indianess.

We do see all indians , have equal rights & true indians with all the freedom.Pl. use this freedon for better purpose to liberate from all the ills,Become modren & keep good values of all the religions one belive.Do pro indian activities & become a global human too in true spirit.

Arranged marriages are very iffy. Get to know her before all the kissing stuff, because I'm sure that you guys didn't ever date. Take her to dinner and ask questions and listen. Tell her about yourself. Earn the bond while in wedlock. Get to know who she is. Women are more into talk and stuff like that.
