Our government is imperfect, but they are not deliberately conspiring against Americans. As a matter of fact, our government is set up to deliberately empower Americans. We are so free we get to admonish our govt on on-line forums. Try that in Pakistan, China, or North Korea.
And by the way, America was not the only Imperialistic country, it is a prevalent trend throughout history. The Natives contaminated with small pox were not the only Natives being conquered around the world. It was normal in that time of colonial imperialism to convert, conquer, and subdue any people in your way to land acquisition. It is not something that should be judged morally from today's moral standpoint. We live in a different world now. The Tuskegee atrocities would also never occur in our modern post civil-rights culture. Furthermore, has there ever been a war fought solely by rulers? No, it has always been that war meant the young are sent to fight the battle that is argued by the old. There are countries who's 7 year olds have AKs. At least our govt has an age minimum set.
I would like to give my children a life unfettered from the guilt we lay on our children through half-education about our histories. Our children should not feel any responsibility or need for retribution for acts committed so far in the past they can only be learned about from books. Through out history there are conquered people and there are conquerors. Most people have ancestors who have been on both sides of the line, somewhere in evolution. So what. Make something of your lives regardless of these dead issues. Don't blame or congratulate anyone for your success. Just get out there and earn it.

TO BRNNLRRR: You are an idiot, so I won't even answer your stupid statement - stupid.
I applaud you. This is the problem with this country today - there are people who won't think for themselves. With our history and culture, it is very difficult to believe the government is on our side. Everything you said was true - the settlers here STOLE land, the Tuskegee Airmen experiment, the terrorist from SAUDI ARABIA, NOT IRAQ, and the WMD's we still yet to find. Hopefully, we will start to have a good government one day, but this government is nowhere near trustworthy. BTW, did you know that Condi Rice suggested that opponents of the war are the moral equivalent of those who would tolerate slavery in 19th century America? Just something to show you how ridiculous this is...

Ignorance is Bliss.
Unfortunately for us, we live in Reality Land. There's so much evil in this world, and our government is doing a great job personifying it, while masquerading as the good guys. Yet the poorest of the poor will rally behind the ideals of radicals because it makes them feel warm and fuzzy inside.
I don't have a good answer to why people are so stupid. At least I can righteously say I didn't help this country into it's hell hole by voting for the current administration.
Yet it doesn't seem to change the fact that there are too many people with their blinders on, and not enough of the Reality-based kind.

cuz that's what the media tells us and so many people don't know how to think for themselves or dont' even know that they arn't thinking for themselves to begin with. Propaganda is still out there, it's just the people are blind to it until they actually see the negative side to it. they even stand up for it. This aspect of history repeats itself same as the rest does. But I don't want it to, so that's why I'm opening my eyes and trying to get others to do the same(which is not easy)

I have often wonder that myself, I do not believe however this misplaced loyalty applies to American's but rather the whole human race. I have seen this time and time again, among friends, marriages, business relationships, even children. Perhaps we as human beings are too proud to admit we have been duped.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

I agree with you. The government rarely has the interests of the populace in mind. Even when something like the Iraq war and confidence in the administration is incredibly low, does anything change? Never.
The government has the interest of big business in mind. Nothing more.

I would have to say that we are not "gullible" so to say, but we are lazy enough to not do anything about. No American wants to dwell out of the life of their lazyboy recliner with tv remote in hand to stand up and do anything. The border is being invaded, oh well, whats on the next channel? The media is poisoning our minds and making people believe in false truths.
