The HIV virus has been cultured in human saliva. My doctor said it was "difficult" to catch HIV this way unless you had open cuts or sores in your mouth. How comfortable are you with "difficult"?
If you "fingered" the vagina of an infected female and then put your finger in your mouth, to your nose, to your eye, or in your rectum; you will probably get infected. How long will the HIV virus continue to live on your finger, I don't know.
The rule I was taught when I used to work as a R.N. is that HIV can be transmitted by the blood or body fluids of an infected person contacting mucus membrane or skin that is not intact. Intact skin is skin that doesn't have cuts or abrasions on it. Mucus membrane is in your mouth, vagina, rectum, the passages in your nose, and the conjuctiva (The tissue between your eye lids and eyes) of your eyes.
Skin can have micro cuts in it that you can not see with the naked eye. The other way to catch HIV is to share a needle for injections with an infected person. Obviously, for this to happen, the Virus must stay alive for a time outside of the body.
If I knew that someone had HIV, I would not kiss them on the lips or do anything sexual with them. Condoms can slip off, tear, or develop puncture holes in them. Aids activists try to give the Idea that condoms make everything safe; not so, my friend.

HIV is like an other virus-it spreads through bodily fluids such as blood and semen. If the person that has HIV also has a cold sore, bleeding gums, ect. and the other person has a cut anywhere there is a high probability that HIV can be transferred. be safe!
