You can become what is known as an IB (independent broker) if; 1) you get the backing from a larger institution? who could bail you out if you should say/do the wrong thing, and someone who would vouch for, and cover any shortfalls, money that your branch takes in and trades for customers 2)they will only back you if you have a completely clean record and have taken the "managerial" tests so that you are qualified to completely run an office by yourself....and that includes many legal issues....Oh, and you at least have to get your series 7 or 3 ;-), Your degree would definately help you....congratulations!
I do have a couple of friends who do this, but it's not right for me. Good luck in what you do!

There are no educational requirements to become a broker.

Sure you can as long as you pass your series 7 and 63 NASD certifications
