No, embossing powder seems to have properties that mica does not, able to be melted and sometimes puffs up when heated, as some of the embossing powders claim. I'm sure there is mica in some embossing powder, for sparkle, but mica certainly doesn't melt or do anything like that, it's a mineral, practically inert.
