When someone log's a complaint against you with the D.C.F.S., your privacy is "Gone". They have to investigate each and every complaint. If you refuse to let them in, this will only inflame the situation, and will reflect badly on you. Yes, they will assume you have something to hide, and they will get police-assistance to gain entry into your home unfortunately. On the other hand, I think if you having nothing to hide, you should welcome them in, let them go through their paces, And when they see all is fine, File criminal-charges against the individuals for filing a false-report, as well as harassment! Especially if this is a recurring event on their behalf.

How much is a lot? Good grief! What was the problem with your neighbors and what were their complaints?
I had a vindictive ex call twice on me and I let them in and spoke to them, gave them access to whatever they wanted because I had nothing to hide. The case was closed as "unsubstantiated" after the first interview.
They do not have total control of your home, they may ask questions and ask to see things like what's in the refrigerator, do the kids have clothes, is the house clean, do they have their own rooms, etc?

Your right to privacy is not as high of a priority as your children's right to safety. You should cooperate with DCFS, tell them you believe your neighbors complaints are unfounded and slanderous, and ask their advice.

If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to loose. Mention that your neighbours are crazy, they will probably become the ones under investigation sooner or later.

yes you have to let them in. and they pretty much can do what they want. be completly open to them and never show anger. this will get them away quicker. as for privacy. we gave that up about 20 years ago...
