EST is GMT -05:00
meaning add 5 hours to go from EST to GMT
so 8:46 am EST is 1:46 pm GMT

There is a 5 hr differnce - but be aware that GMT in England has no daylight savings so there can be a variation from season to season in local time differences. 8:46 + 5 hrs = 1:46 pm

You should really be looking this up yourself and I should not have answered so as to make you look it up yourself ....

But since I have - GMT is at 0 degrees longtitude and so you add X number of hours as you move degree's. The Earth is round right? So the sun moves accross the sky riseing in the east and setting in the west try to picture that as you "see" te time difference. It's dark in New York right now it's so where is the sun ? It's on the other side of the globe moving back twords New York right? So it's dawn somewhere and high noon elsewhere ....

Hope that helps

Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is five hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time (EST). So if it's 8:46am Eastern Standard Time, it's 1:46pm Greenwich Mean Time.

You said Eastern STANDARD Time. When the US is observing Daylight Savings Time, GMT is only FOUR hours ahead. So today, the US is still on Daylight Savings Time. EST becomes EDT (for Eastern Daylight Time), and 8:46am EST would become 12:46pm GMT.

Hope this helps!
