the sparkle in a childs eyes on christmas morning is the only thing that really matters. everything else is glitter. keep it simple, and inexpensive. if you raise your expectations too high then you will fail to enjoy yourself, and if you're distressed then others will be also. get some pointers from "how the grinch stole christmas" good luck.

Christmas is a marvelous celebration of our belief in the Lord's plan for us all. I would appreciate the fact that I awakened this morning and on every holiday as well. I would treat my fellow "mankind" with respect, just because God deemed them all to be on this world with me. A kind word, a friendly smile and a helping hand, go much further than material things. If a person is in need of something that I can resolve at the time, then I will make sure that they have food, drink or carfare. Exchanging gifts at Christmas is alright but I do what what I can do through the entire year. I am not rich so I can't hand over monies for different causes to end up in an unknown direction. Remember this, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" - Romans 8:31. Peace and God Bless.

Oh, darling, the most important thing...
Christmas is about love, so spend time with your family. Don't worry so much about 'do' - but 'be'.
Don't cook elaborate meals if you'll just get frustrated at how much time it takes you - and how fast they get devoured. A few special dishes that are tradition, of course - if it makes you happy as well - and some good old comfort-food standbys - and at least one 'order-it-in' meal will get you through.
More sparkle? Don't buy new things but think about how you can 'repurpose' what you have - and enjoy the money you save. Cedar and pine branches can often be cut for free in your own back yard, even in the city. Pile polished apples in a bowl rather than glossy ornaments. Have the kids pop and string plain popcorn - a lot will wind up in their mouths but that's part of the fun! - for a traditional popcorn chain.
Get everyone to go to the dollar store or Canadian Tire or Budget World with you and let them each pick out ONE dollar's worth of things that could be used to decorate with a bit of craft effort - imagine getting a pack of copper scrubbies (no soap) and pulling them carefully apart for a country-look tinsel - or twisting little butterflies out of pink toilet paper - or making miniature teddy bears from twisted brown fuzzy pipecleaners?
Look in your local library for titles like 'The Best Christmas Ever' or 'Stress-Free Holidays'... your librarian will know what you want if you ask her the same question! Such books often have great collections of decor tips, recipes, checklists, planning help, gift ideas, and so on - everything you need ideas for in one volume.
But remember the reason you are celebrating - love. Whether that's God's love - the love that sent a Child down to earth for us - or the love you find in your family, for whom you want that 'sparkle', take the time to soak it in.
And - I bet I'll be the first to wish you this - have a wonderful Christmas!

This Thanksgiving put everyone's name in a bowl and then let everyone draw a name.Tell them at Christamas, they will write why they love that person on a piece of paper. This will be their gift to one another on Christmas.
Tell them that this year you are going to put your money together and instead of buying gifts for each other, you are buying gifts for a poor family who has no gifts. Call your local County or District judge or your pastor and find the family most in need.
Go Christmas Eve to deliver the gifts to the needy family. Be sure the young ones go too so they can see the joy on the needy family's faces. You might even sing them a carol!
Have lots of food for Christmas and hang everyone's note to each other on the tree.
Then each person can read their notes. It will be great!!!

Always make Jesus the center of your Christmas. Be sure to help someone in need and make cookies and give out to neighbors and people that are alone or the elderly or children. The more you do for others, the better your Christmas will be. Christmas is all about giving...of yourself that is!

If you think of Christmas already in September, you will have no problems with the preparations. Take it easy!!! People or kids will not remember how much work you put in it but how much fun you and they had.

Start shopping now to beat the rush, and the prices. The rest has to come from within you; where the Christmas Spirit truly lies.
