x and y are variables and 2 and 3 are constants.
Basically 2 * x, and 3 * y...when you multiply them it becomes...
2 * 3 * x * y, they all combine. 2*3 is 6, of course, and since we don't know the values of x and y they just stay there in their variable form.
6xy is the answer.

2x * 3y can be simplified as such (2*3)(x*y) so 6xy this expression means that 6 * (variable x) * (variable y) = some result this result is dependent upon the variables x and y which in this case can be any real number (all numbers both negative and postitive including irrational numbers (numbers such as 2.243457 that go on forever with no end) ) the variables are what make algebra algebra, using these variables instead of numbers you can better understand the mechanics of math. For example if you let x = 2 and y = 3 then the expression 6xy becomes 6*2*3=12. Think of variables as substitutes for numbers, they can be any and all numbers.

Very simple.
2x is basically 2 times x and 3y is basically 3 times y. So your question is: 2 * x * 3 * y. Then you should multiply the numbers.
2*3=6 then you should multiply the unknown: x * y = xy. Therefore the answer is 6xy.

6xy is the answer. Get an algebra text. Read the part on multiplication. This is a simple question that you must memorize. Test it with numbers. Have x=10 and y=20. You have 40 times 60. answer is 1200. 6xy gives you 6 times 10 times 20=1200

2x times 1 =2x*1 =2x
2x times 2 =2x*2 =2x*(1+1)=2x+2x =4x
2x times 3 =2x*3 =2x*(2+1)=2x*2+2x*1=2x+4x=6x
similarly by logic
2x times y =2xy (i believe u no that x*y=xy)
similarly
2xy times 3 = 6xy
because 2x *3y =(2x timesy)times 3
remember =x*y*2*3=x*2*y*3=x*2*3*y=2*3*x*y=6*x*y=6xy

6xy why? x times y = xy 2x3 = 6 or 2 x 3 x (X xY)
Does that help at all or are you as confused as before.
It has been years since I did algebra.

the answer my friend, is 6xy. you see, there are associative properties that allow u to rearrange the 2x and 3y to do this.
