Tipper Gore is responsible for music censorship.

A number of words and images have been changed or bleeped on the publicly owned airwaves. Cable and Satellite are not required to meet those standards.

Pictures of arrestees are pixillated on television because they haven't been proven guilty.

The general reason these things are done in public media is to prevent the obscene or deviant from being confused with cultural norms in the minds of impressionable young people.

Because regardless of what teens think, not all of them have the capacity to make informed, rational decisions. Censorship like what you're decribing is in place to protect children. In the eyes of the law, anyone under the age of 18 is a child. THe age of majority is an arbitrary number, but it reflects society's belief than kids need to be cared for. Because some parents won't control their children, the government has to step in and lay some basic ground rules that a civilized society agress upon.

Blanking people's face in a newspaper protects their right to privacy. It has nothing to do with censorship.

Teens don't need censorship of any kind. Contrary to popular belief, teens need to learn how to voice their opinions in a civilized manner. It doesn't matter how they voice their opinon as long as they do not harm others.

The recent T-shirt scenario is a great example of voicing one's opinion without harming another person. ^_^

Only fascist governments censor their citizens. Read George Orwell's book, "1984". Forget the movie - read the book first.
