I once had a roommate that we charged $125 for room and board. This covered half of the utilities and groceries. He became lazy and lethargic and did nothing.
If you have a job, you should take money out of each check for rent.
If you can't afford rent, then you need to find somewhere else to live.
How late have you been? Do you owe him any money? You help pay rent so both people can live there, but if you can't keep up your end, then you aren't helping out.

Even if you get your own place you're required to pay rent of some kind or else you get kicked out on your boxers... especially since your friend is going out of his way to help you, it's important to respect that and do what he asks. $200 isn't much at all compared to most rent fees.

I'm sorry to say this but he did what he need to do. If you can't pay you should move back home. He's not your parents and should have to support you. You need to pull your own wait in order to learn how to live on ur own and get some where in life.

We all have to pay to live somewhere. Why should be different. If you cannot afford the rent then you need to go where you can afford. Its that simple.
