G'day Azabache656,

Thank you for your question.

An oral fixation is a term in psychology while Oral Fixation Volume 2 is a 2005 Shakira album in English. Fijación Oral Vol. 1 was released June 7, 2005 by Shakira in Spanish.

An oral fixation (also oral craving) is a fixation in the oral stage of development and manifested by an obsession with stimulating the mouth (oral), first described by Sigmund Freud.

Infants are naturally and adaptively in an oral stage, but if weaned too early or too late, there may be a subsequent failure to resolve the conflicts of this stage and to develop a maladaptive oral fixation. In later life, these people may constantly "hunger" for activities involving the mouth.

If a child was not fed enough or was fed too much (over-protected), this may later create an oral fixation in that adult. It is believed that fixation in the oral stage can cause one of two things. If the child was treated well, fed lots, he will be orally dependent, and therefore selfish and wanton because he is used to getting what he wants. He might learn to manipulate others to fulfill his needs rather than maturing to independence. The overly indulged child may resist growing up and try to return to that state of dependency through crying, acting helpless, demanding satisfaction, and being "needy."

Oral fixations are considered to contribute to over-eating, being overly talkative, smoking addictions and alcoholism (known as "oral dependent" qualities). Other symptoms include a sarcastic or "biting" personality (known as "oral sadistic" qualities).

Critics of Freud's theories doubt that such a thing as "oral fixation" can explain adult behaviors, and that subscribing to this simplistic explanation can prevent the exploration of other possible causes that may occur. Even psychoanalytically oriented practitioners have broadened their understandings of fixations beyond simple stage theory.

It is also a name of a Shakira album. Oral Fixation Vol. 2 was released on November 29, 2005. It was released later again in March 28, 2006 with the addition of the hit "Hips Don't Lie".

"The title comes from the fact that I have always lived through my mouth," Shakira has said. "It is my biggest source of pleasure and my most accessible vehicle to discover and enjoy the world. I am fixated on chocolate! I am fixated on the spoken word, the written word, the things I have said and the things I should never have said. This is the reason why I decided on this names for the albums (Fijación Oral Vol. 1 / Oral Fixation Vol. 2)". The album artwork is significant as well. Shakira called upon Renaissance icons to explain the significance of Oral Fixation. In Oral Fixation Vol. 2 the same child from the past album is perched in a tree and reaches for an apple held in Shakira's hand. "Vol. 2 is more of a Jungian sort of thing, since the reference is to a universal archetype of Eve (Adam and Eve) and the original sin. I think that is something that is really subconsciously in our minds. On the cover of Vol. 2 I wanted to attributed one more reason for Eve to bite the forbidden fruit - that would be her oral fixation."

I have attached sources for your reference.

Regards

Oral fixation is usually developed from toddler years. Its an.......(whats the word can i use here?) something like an obssesions involving your mouth area. Like talking alot, or chewing alot of gum, smoking 20 cigars in a day, kissing and things of that sort. Its usually caused bc child at their young age didnt develop from "the oral stage"(a term used in psychology) correctly so it leaves the child wanting to make up for unmet needs
