It stated to let your kids stay home on this day in rememberance of this day. It went on talking about being out of school for presidents birthday, other small holidays. We should be able to be out of school for the mass murder from terrorism on our land. I agree this should be a day of rememberance to spend with family. Do you agree??? Thanks.

The whole idea of not letting the terrorists win is that we go on with our normal lives and not stay at home.

You can remember those who passed and spend time with your family that evening if you wish, light candles and appreciate each other. I suppose if you wanted to stay home and keep the kids home you could but I don't want it to look like we're scared of terrorism so I wouldn't want a national day just yet. It's still too soon.

A touching sentiment, certainly, but who'd follow it for the right reasons? If kids are pulled out of school, they're only going to see it as another excuse for getting out of school. 911 to them doesn't mean the same thing as it does to us. If we want kids to stay with the family and reflect on the horrors that 911 brought to the US, they need to be sat down by their parents and watch films like World Trade Center, United 93, and other such movies (what do you think? Would Independence Day fall under that category?).

Never forget until Americans are as good and loving to each other as they were right after the towers fell.

Nope. There are so many horrible things that happen it would be impossible to declare a holiday for all of them. If you lost someone and it is emotional for you then by all means stay home. Not that I don't think it was a terrible tragedy but I myself will be going to class.

I must go to college that day but I'll surely pray for all the victims of 9/11.
