Is "The cry of the dark" grammatically corect?

In poetry sure. But realistically the dark doesn;t cry...it's just a color without sound. : )

It's correct if you're using it to personify darkness, but if you're describing the sound of a person crying at night, then it should be "the cry in the dark." You do NOT need to capitalize dark unless it is the name of a person or place.

Only if you capitalize "dark" to make it a proper noun as you are trying to personify it- rather that an adjective.to describe a shade or level of light

Yes, it is. But you should capitalize 'd' in dark.

The cry of the Dark.

Then only it becomes proper noun, and so gives meaning.

maybe you mean cry in the dark. as a rule "dark" doesn't cry.
