My daughter's skirt has that "unraveled denim hem" look--that new fashion trend. My problem is that the hem curls up so much that it looks like a mini skirt. Any ideas how I can get it to stay uncurled?

just above where the fringes end, put a false hem underneath, you can do this by using an iron fusible interlining, you could get a tape of this easily. Make sure that the weight of the fusing tape is the right one for teh weight of the denim used for the skirt, else it will either not work or become too stiff in that area. Best Way is to take the skirt along

Iron-on interfacing -- about 3" wide around the hem line. Go to a good fabric store and ask what they have available for that problem. Bring the skirt with you.

For a permanent stiffening you could try clear nail polish, diluted with a little bit of acetone (to thin it out). Put that on the hems and let dry, then use a hot iron to force it into place.

Starch or spray starch is your easiest option.

There is also a product called "Stiffy" sold in craft stores that is a fabric stiffener. If you go with the product use it sparingly because it REALLY stiffens the fabric

Starch but a temporary solution (maybe you're out and it starts to curl) hairspray it, not excessively but enough to get it to stay down until you can starch it.

spray starch is best, also depends on why it needs to be stiffened. There are stronger stiffeners if it is to be an object not worn. If it is to be worn, spray starch is best

Spray it with starch and comb it or brush it flat and press it with a hot iron.
