they had the weapons, the power, and the interest to discover raw matierals to trade with india and other nations. They went in the name of spreading christianity, but instead wiped out all the natives of the new world with disease and weapons thats thats why they were able to establish themselves so well.

This policy gave them amazing hold over world.
