did you see the 20/20 about ice then? a young girl i think she was 12, it's been awhile since i saw it. did her science project on germs. she found that the ice you get in your soda has more germs than the toilet water of the restaurant you go to! and of the one in the dining room versus the drive thru the drive thru is dirtier. ew. i order all of my drinks now with out ice. makes sense though because i've never in all the years i've gone to these places or even worked at these places ever remember cleaning out the area where the ice is stored in the soda machine.

Cynthetiq is absolutely right! If these germs were so bad for us we would all be dead and wouldn't live past a year old. We have to build our immune system against germs and the only way to do that is to be exposed to them.
I use to be a VERY clean freak and got sick ALL the time. Now that I am more relaxed about germs I never get sick.

Have you ever stopped to think how many germs there are EVERYWHERE? Opening the car door to get out of someone else's car? Opening the door to a store or mall? Opening the freezer door at the market? Pushing the button for get a soft drink at a restaurant? Signing in at a location (gym, nail salon, anywhere) and touching that pen? Germs are inevitable and that's why we have to eat healthy and exercise to keep our immune system up.

I know what your saying. I've thought about getting a box of latex gloves to carry aound with me for use in those types of situations. Last winter I made a point of keeping my gloves on at all times, while shopping, going in and out of public doors, etc. and I actually made it through the whole winter with no colds, or the flu.

What makes me think is why they have signs in restrooms saying that employees must wash their hands before returning to the job. You can look at many things and come up with the same conclusions. We cant see the kitchen in restaurants, does the chef have the flu, are the handles on restroom doors sanitary, did the dog that is licking your face just get through licking itself, etc., etc., etc.

the human body needs to have germs to fight in order to have a strong defense system. anti bacterial soaps and over hygienic living only weaken this system, i dont worry about germs too much and cant remember when i last had a cold or been sick

Lol... my mind is constantly racing... lol... when I go to restaurants I double check the plates, glasses, and silverware they give to us to use. I've sent back glasses cuz it had lip smears on it and it looked like it was just used... I've sent back plates cuz they had lil pieces still stuck to them. I've sent back silverware cuz it' obviously had been cleaned half a ss....
But yeah... I NEVER go to the salad bar areas cuz sooo many people PICK their food out by hand ... EWWWW GROSS... and when woman in particular lean over it their hair could fall in the food seen that a few times... and people RARELY wash their hands when coming outta a bathroom... I've been sooo disgusted w/restuarants that i've just left as i walked in... so yeah... i've stopped to think almost too many times...

you should carry a small bottle of anti bacterial hand cleaner with you. after you handle the tongs you can get back to your table and clean your hands.

nothing is germ free. do you use the handrail when on an escalater? or the stairs? do you push the button on an elevator? do you grab the handle of the door to that restaurant to open it??

That's nasty. I haven't gone to a buffet in more than a year.

simple solution to that problem: don't eat there if that bothers you.

It's funny how people used to eat food off the ground with their unwashed caveman hands and they managed to survive
