December 2005. The bill was already signed into law.

Detainee Treatment Act of 2005 (DTA) §1005...

The Supreme Court rejected the denial of Habeas Corpus for petitions already filed prior to that date, but has not addressed later petitions. Hamdan v. Rumsfeld (2006)

{EDIT} Read the end of third to last paragraph, talking about §1005

Basically, the executive reserves the right to deny subject matter jurisdiction to the federal courts to interpret the law, and shall ignore any court decisions that contradicts his interpretation. He's claiming the courts have no authority to say the law is unconstitutional.

And yes, at least 3 US citizens so far, captured on US soil, have been stripped of all legal rights by his declaration that they were enemy combatants. The Supreme Court said "you can't do that". Bush said "I don't care. I'm doing it anyway". Read the cases.

as soon as he can.

then he'll find more laws, policies and programs to destroy to continue his ravenous destruction of the american economy.

"when" he starts a war with iran i hope the people here wake up to the fact this man is worse than hitler.

note: soldiers are being called "back" to duty after just coming home having been cheated of thier leave and finding out they can't even get out of the military when their time is up. What soldiers moral will be up for fighting another country after this?
