my flash drive no longer works. It is recognized by my computer. I am running win2k, and when i go to system>hardware>device manager, i can't get a directory listing. Any ideas? When i unplug the device, i get a message saying that the device was unsafely unplugged..."

Anyone ever have anything happen like this? Should i toss it, or try a different approach to getting it working again?

Well
Such Device sometimes it won't show on Device manager it will only show on my computer beside the Cd Rom and the portions

so when you plug it you might need to check beside the Cd Rom and the Portions and If You see it That mean it works

Make sure you use the "Unplug or eject hardware" key when you unplug anything from your pc. It's the little chip below with the green arrow pointing left.

Hope the helps.
