Really, why is he constantly picked even though he has been playing **** for months, and why is he constantly talked about by the press in the same league as Steven Gerrard when it is clear to see that he isnt fit to be on the same pitch as Gerrard.

Steven Gerrard as of 8/9/06 has got 64 goals for Liverpool, so for the person who used that stats to compare him with fat frank make sure that they are right first.

Mclaren is far more canny than than Erikson. He's already got rid of Beckham - I think Lampard may have to up his game a bit sharpish. Joe Cole, Gerrard, Hargreaves and Carrick should play behind Rooney and (at the moment) Crouch.

Frank Lampard is constantly picked for England because he is a world class midfielder, but at the moment he is just going through a bit of a lean spell in fron of goal.

I remember everyone prasising him after euro 2004, where he scored 3 goals, i know that was 2 years ago and he had a dreadful World Cup, but so did 95% of the squad who played.

Lampard is undoubatly England's best goal scoring midfielder and most of the time he will be sniffing around the chances, i think that everyone should just lay off him, the bloke will come back, as long as he keeps doing the best for us mighty Chelsea i will be even happier.

Lampard is in the England team because of the goals he scored for Chelsea last season. And the reason he scored those goals is because Chelsea set up to play in a fashion that is very beneficial to him. They had skillful wingers who pulled defenders out of position. They had a forward in Drogba, who was always a handful for any defense because of his height and strength. And the major reason was the presence of Makelele and Essien in the side, who played the sitting midfielder role, and gave Lampard the license to play further forward than other midfielders. They clean up the mess when he mucks up in front and gives away the ball. Personally, I think Lampard merits a seat on the England subs bench at the most. And players like Lennon should get in before him. I am not a great fan of his passing, his touch and his defending ability. It's Chelsea that makes him look better than he is.

because he is actually a good player. sorry they can't be good all the time...everyone is going to go through a rough patch in their life/career. give him a break... let's just take a look at some stats here...

Gerrard has:
37 goals for Liverpool (1997-Present)
10 goals for England (2000-Present)

Lampard has:
1 goal for Swansea (1995-1996)
24 goals for West Ham United (1994-2001)
52 goals for Chelsea (2001-Present)
12 goals for England (1999-Present)

Enough said.

Stevie is one of my favorite players, and i'm not putting him down at all. I love that guy and I think he is such an amazing player. I also love frank though and I'm just trying to make a point to all of those who hate him and thinks he can't play.

He was tired, after a hard season, like many good player. The main reason why Brazil didn't win the WC was the fact that most of their players were playing a hard game every 3-4 days. A player becomes sick of football. Look at Zidane, he wasn't trying hard last 4 years, and he played the best he can this WC because he is retiring.

Every player falls out of form a bit from time to time, yeah even precious steve. Have you seen some of the goals Lampard has driven, jesus. Not to mention last year, he was picked by a wide range of coaches and commentators to be the second best player in Europe, following Ronaldinho, and yes, placing ahead of steve.

I agree with Earl.

Lampard is totally out of form when playing for country. In WC, he is playing in his favourite position, but look at his statistics. No goals, shot on target rate is also damn low. (Gerrard scored twice even when playing out of position.)

For the first 3 game under McClaren, he is also playing poorly.

Chelsea format suits him, just like Earl said. But now that Ballack is here, playing in the position that he used to play, we can expect his form for his club will be dropping soon, and in no time, he will be dropped from the National Team.

Just because a player isn't playing well doesn't mean he's not a good player.
I believe you are new to the game that you didn't know about the time when Gerrard wasn't at his best.

I think Lampard and Gerrard are both good enough for international level but you cant compare them because they are so different to each other.

What's your alternative then. It does make me laugh when people just slag off a player and criticise a manager, but without offering any opinions of their own as to the alternative. Admittedly, the asker as mentioned Gerrard, but then who would you have on the right?
