how can i prevent further instant messages from this person?

If you make yourself ''Invisible'' it appears that you are offline and they can't send you IM's
Have them in your list so you know when to go ''Invisible'' and when you can appear ''Available''

If you close yahoo messenger, you won't receive instant messages from them...guaranteed. You could also shutdown your pc, but that lowers productivity for me sometimes. Good luck!

Go invisible or delete the contact from your list.

Try deleting them from your email list... THAT doesn't work either...
