I forged a piece of paper saying that my court case was expunged in order to get a job that I had been denied due to failing the background check. I faxed it to a background check company and they said it was n't a true court document, what kind of trouble would I be in?

Hi,
You have not broken any laws and you are not in any trouble. You did not forge anything, you only lied about the results of something. You can put just about anything on a job application and it is up to the hiring company to find out if it is true, hence the company that does the background check.
When you forge a document, it is where you usually sign a name that is not your name. I think the term you are looking for is purjury. That is where you lie about something like how much you make on a credit card application, or lie about something while under oath.
You are in no trouble and if you want to find out for sure, just call an attorney and he will tell you the same thing for free.

A litany of state and federal charges depending on what side of the bed the police or the prosecutor woke up that day.

Hire a lawyer and don't pay him with funny money. Oh, innocent until proven guilty - sorry.

Well if they report you, then you could be charged with the crime of forgery. If convicted you could be faced with a fine and/or jail time. At the very least you have proven to be an untrustworthy candidate for employment.
