Boom? What boom? Wake up. Since the late 90's wages in the IT sector have been slashed across the board, the market's still flooded with overqualified folks willing to take a pay cut just to get a position, outsourcing has /gutted/ tech support and development, fly-by-night training centers are injecting hordes of under-educated technicians who're willing to work for peanuts just to get their foot in the door, and staffing agencies have eroded benefits. News flash: automotive mechanics and people in the manual trades make better money than the vast majority of people in the IT industry. There is no boom.

I agree with the answer above.....Internet has Become a viable Medium now (Just like telvision) and the usage is surely going to rise......Well i suppose you are also from India and want to know how long will the IT boom last in India well its no secret that the current boom is fueled by the exchanege rate by all calculations getting a job done in india costs 1/6 th it costs in UK/US and by a conservative estimate the price differecnce will stay for another 10 Years.....Hopefully the IT industry in India will be mature enough to get into higher quality work by then......and moving to other locations is always an option so all said and done it seems to be a fair deal being into IT these Days......

As long as there are people interested in furthering the technology of man, and there are jobs to be held, information technology will spread.

I work with computers daily, and to keep up with all of the news, releases and tests takes up a lot of time.

Don't look for it to ever end. In fact, I see computers as being the end-all-be-all in our home to control every electrical appliance, music, videos, messaging, video phones, Internet and television.

Forever...that would be like asking how long the boom on television will last. They are viable media.
