Definitely. The kid is a beast. He's on my fantasy team and I've been watching him all season. There is no doubt about it. He just had a three-homer game. I think he could at least have another 2-homer game before the season is over.

I was just looking back through at some of the other answers and was laughing at people...Warsoul24a69 - it's Mark McGwire, not Mark Mcquire. If you're going to debate, at least get your facts right. And, I have never hear Barry called "Roids." All three of them took steroids, too; why single Barry out?
jdbreeze1 and Kurt C - there's been a lot of talk about how, since Barry and Steroid Co. used steroids, Roger's mark is the true record. A lot of people have been referring to that as the home run record during Howard's amazing run to break it; just completely ignoring Barry, Mark, and Sammy.

P.S. Howard just had a two home-run game again...I'm telling you, the kid's a beast and he can't be stopped. Oh, yeah - Duncan - he's not using. He's not that stupid. Anyway, only 6 away from breaking it! Go Ryan!

It is no longer Roger Maris's record but Barry Bonds with 72 or 73. If he keeps going then he will pass Rogers mark of 61 home runs.

Roger Maris doesn't have a home run record! The home run record is 73 by Barry Bonds!!! And no he wouldn't break Bonds home run record!

Yes... Roger Maris no longer holds the record, but he should. His record was broken by 3 ball players involved in steroid scandal! Mark Mcquire, Sammy Sosa, and finally Barry "Roids" Bonds himself. If Howard passes Roger Maris (and I think he has a good shot) I believe he will be the first one to do so without the use of performance enhancer and be the only legit single season home run record holder.

No...61 is not a record anymore.

It is the American League record, but Howard is in the National League so he can't break it.

I don't think it is going to happen -- but I would like to see it happen. Anything that gets the attention away from Barry Bonds is good for baseball.

He will run out of steroids and come up short of the record.

Hard to say. Things can go sour at the end of the season
