No. Chiggers are little bugs that burrrow under your skin and live on your blood. When I was a kid Mom used to put calamine lotion on ours. We used get chigger bites when we wnt blackberry picking. Have you been in any woods or brushy areas lately. The way I understood at the time was that you needed to seal off the top of the bites to cut off the air from the chiggers. However, that might have been an Old Wives Tale. Call your doctor or the local Pblic Health Center for advise.

Chigger bites are caused by the larvae of the chigger. The bite produces blisters (vesicles) and bleeding into the skin (purpura). These bites itch intensely and are usually located on exposed areas of the skin where the chigger larvae have access. This photograph demonstrates vesicle formation following the bites.

No chiggers are not like mosquito's. Chiggers, are very small about the size of a Nat, they are usually in the grass or weeds. And the attack like a mosquito, but instead of biting and drawing blood, chiggers get in under your skin. They can make you miserable, But Calamine lotion will help a lot.

Chiggers are a tiny little bug that burrows under your skin. It itches like crazy and it won't stop even if you scratch it into an open sore. You normally get infested with the little buggers when you have been in pine needles, climbing trees, and even heard you can get them wading through tall grass.
To get rid of them, put clear fingernail polish on the spots. It worked like a charm when I would get into chiggers as a kid. I think it smothers them. You will stop itching.
Good luck!

They are tiny ticks that you get when you go picking berries from the bushes and some one will say Tick or chigger and they are about the same. Alcohol will get them out and sometimes a farmers match held over the skin will help to get them out...

Chiggers are teeny fleas that bite around your ankles and lower legs. Maybe a spider got to you.

Going by memory of what I read about them:
They are also called red bugs, live on the ground, attach to your skin and have straw like apparatus to draw blood, their saliva has anticoagulants and can cause an allergic reaction.
Once the individual insect has finish feeding, it drops off. This occurs before you know it has been there. They are not under the skin.
