Yes, you would have gotten into trouble. Not murder, but something called "involuntary manslaughter". Look it up.

You might have been hit with something like involuntary manslaughter unless you could prove that your actions in throwing him into the street were completely unintentional and that you were just reacting to the situation. In that case, it would just be an unfortunate accident. A good lawyer could have gotten you off the hook.

If he was hit and killed - at the very lease "involuntary manslaughter" which basically means you didn't purposely intend to kill him, however it did happen.
If he was hit & killed and the street was very busy at the time -"manslaughter".
If he was struck but lived it could be "attempted murder", especially if they could prove that you knew the street was busy, and cars were traveling up & down the street.
For any of the above you're looking at prison time.

It's acceptable in the eyes of the law to defend one's self. To put that person in a situation where he could die is quite a different story.

No, you could easily be looking at murder. In almost every state you have a duty to retreat from a fight. By choosing to fight, you made a conscious decision and are responsible for whatever the outcome is.

It could have been considered involuntary or voluntary manslaughter, or maybe not. It depends on the state, and whether the jury accepted the self-defense argument

You would be libel for his death. You have not learned to walk away from a fight as yet?

Grow up before you end up spending time where you do not want to eg prison.

you go to jail and if you have martial arts background they can put you away longer. If they see it as an accident you won't get as much time. Also if you have military training you would be in more trouble.
