If the tradelines are reporting inaccurately, you can dispute them as such. If the bureaus cannot correct in the legal time limit they must delete the tradelines.

Never use the free FACT-ACT reports to dispute from. Doing that gives the bureaus an extra 15 days to deal with your dispute. If you use reports that you paid each bureau for, or reports that you got for free from being denied credit, they have 30 days to deal with the dispute.

I would suggest going to the site I've listed and start reading in the newbie forum and then in the credit forum. There is a great deal of information what constitutes a violation on your reports and about disputing with the bureaus.

I just read your other question. You should have requested that they delete upon payment. I also wanted to say that the person who said that the tradelines will remain for 7 years after payment is wrong. That would be re-aging and illegal.

Financial institutions update credit bureaus on a regular basis. If you have a delinquency of 30 days for instance that will stay on your credit report for 7 years. The only way that is removed is if the financial institution reverses it. In most cases it will only be reversed if the financial institution made an error. If an account is paid and is closed (a car loan for example) it will show on your credit report stating "closed per consumer request" or something along those lines. Hope that helps you.

All items will stay on your report for seven years from the last date of activity. If they have been on your report for seven years or more, contact the credit bureaus, dispute these items, and have them removed from your report.
