Usually the first 2-3 cm. take the longest, but after they have passed, it can go pretty fast. I was dilated at a 2 for 4 days, and was having contractions (irregular) and some of them hurt quite bad. After the 3 cm, It only took me 2 1/2 hours to get to a 10 cm. Have her go on walks (if able to handle it...don't let her push herself) and just relax as much as possible. I know it's tough, but hang in there...it will all be worth it in the end!!! Lots of luck and best wishes for the soon to be mommy!

You can be at 2 cms for a long time (days) when the contractions are more regular and increase in pain or duration, it's time to get to the hospital. Have her keep in touch with the hospital. The nurses will be able to assess her over the phone and tell her when to come in. They may send you home again, but at least it's better than sitting at home waiting.

i replaced into 3 cm dialated for a pair weeks. It basically relies upon. the toddler will come even as it comes. If it takes too lengthy, they could set off. Wanna hurry issues alongside? Have sex. Thats why our daughter replaced into 2 weeks early. Didnt propose for that to ensue! lol. Even being already 3cm dialated didnt help to speed issues alongside tho. Gettin busy began the not straightforward artwork, besides the undeniable fact that it lasted 38 hours! probably might want to were longer, yet they had to interrupt my water, vacuum her head, and supplies me one nasty episiotomy to get her out. After bein in not straightforward artwork a pair of days, both one of our coronary heart prices were dropping. basically dont hassle about it. it truly is going to ensue the way that that's meant to. BTW, when you're thinking an epidural they dont harm! in reality, I didnt even word even as they placed it in. If youre in not straightforward artwork a lengthy time period, they're a god-deliver! best of success!

Indeed every labor is different.
Rest up if possible. Eat if possible. It will be much better if she's not hungry weak dehydrated and sleep-deprived when things get going more intensely.
The hospital tried to send me home when I was 1 or 2 cm dilated, but I was in such discomfort I insisted on staying.
Good luck and congratulations!

sorry no average rule of thumb -- using my own family genetics... I took 8 days & a ton of pain from that point & then another 36 hurs with my first & only --- both my sisters, sent home & then back to the hospital within 6 hours, first born within 2 hours... I don't hate them for it.. but maybe I should - HAHAH -- so sorry for the pain & the wait.. I PROMISE, IT'S WORTH IT!!!

Everyone is different. I was dialated to 2 for a couple of weeks before and I still ended up being induced.
