I'm throwing my little sister a baby shower.I already have the drinks take care of.Besides a vegie tray, cake for the baby shower, chips (maybe dip too),what else works? It's mostly family, the mom and dad to be,and my sister's closest friend. So a total of 7 to 8 people. This will be my first baby shower(never hosted one or attended one before).I'm pretty much in charge of everything.

I would serve a meat and cheese tray, a veggie tray, and a fruit tray. Then it is all covered. :)

Well, seeing as though its after lunch and just before dinner, Id probably keep it light. How about a spinach dip with bread chunks, homous dip with pitas, a fruit salad, that should be enough. Chances are if its mostly family they may all get together at someones house or go out for dinner. Have fun and congratulations Auntie.

My baby shower was a small affair, too, with husbands/boyfriends invited. The men kept busy in the back yard with BBQ and beer and such, and we gals did our thing out on the patio. It was very relaxed, just kind of like a regular, intimate get-together.

So I guess my reply is... BBQ! My husband and his stepdad were in charge of chicken and veggie kabobs. Pretty lightweight fare, because it was afternoon, rather than dinnertime, and we had salad and cheese fondue and cake besides. Oh, and the requisite chips and dip.

Have fun!

Finger Foods are best

Lil' Smokies Cocktail Sausages - (you can find them where the Deli-meats are) served with sweet&sour sauce or ketchup

At my babyshower -my mom served Popcorn-Chicken with honey-musturd dip & ranch dip- everyone loved it

or you could also try those
Pizza-Bites

or if you want something more healthy
I have attended baby showers where they served
Soup with a slice of toast in it

Or Simple sandwiches will do just find

Small finger sandwiches or a king size sub that you can slice. A nice seafood salad w/fancy crackers is always a good idea. If you are having chips why not a nice spinach dip. Fresh fruit to top it off.

My shower was at 2:30. We served the best subs ever! We also had pasta salad. Make it very light. Guest are not going to be expecting a meal, just a snack.

I would say maybe a meat/cheese tray for sandwiches... or maybe an assortment of appetizers... food network has a party section... maybe there are some ideas there
