How do you get a fog machine to lay the fog in a low layer? Mine just blasts out into a huge room filling cloud. I want to use it outdoors, at night in a graveyard setting for Halloween.

First you need no wind if you are outdoors.

Then you need a fog cooler, like the one made by ColdFlow. It is basically a box with metal fins that the fog machine blows through. It is chilled by expanding carbon dioxide, dry ice, or a thermocouple. The fog machine blows through it and you get that nice layer of fog on the ground.

You can buy one here: http://www.smokemachines.net/buy-dng-100-fog-cooler.shtml

I've seen a web page about how you can blast the fog through an ice chest or cooler in order to have the fog cling to the ground.

With NO WIND!

Lay out a slow even amount
let it disapate
then a low even amount again
Also move the machine around a little to find a great spot

Depends. Water, Dry Ice or something else? For all, I think that if the fog was colder, it would stay lower.
