In Michigan I was once down to 40 below Zero Fahrenheit, winter of 1967-68. I have experienced 112 degrees Fahrenheit in the Dallas area in the 1990's--don't remember the exact year.

-28 in Chicago, real temperature. Not windchill.
105 degrees also in Chicago. The power went out as well that day!
I live in Orlando now, and as hot as it is here, Chicago is hotter on occasions, and it doesn't let up at night. Down here we have 6 months of 90 plus degree weather, but it cools down at night.
I remember in 1981, I think it was. In Chicago, we had 20 some plus days of below zero temps. I remember when it warmed up to 5 degrees, it seemed warm, I kid you not!
I believe the climate has changed. It doesn't get that cold in Chicao anymore. I mean it may hit 0 once or twice a year, but nothing like before. You also have more tweener weather. Its drearier and chillier in Spring now, it seems.
