my neighbor keeps throwing trash in my yard. i don't know what to do.

here's how it started: i moved in to my new house in february, and one night i was taking out the trash and got locked out of my house. i knocked on my neighbor's door to ask to use the phone, since he was the only person i had met in my neighborhood. i was really embarrased, i happened to look down and his fly is unzipped and he has a ***** (he's married with like 4 kids or something). so i quickly used the phone to call a locksmith and i left. ever since then, his wife won't even acknowledge me, and he barely says hi when i say hi (he was friendly before this happened). they both act weird. and now, the trash in my lawn? what do i do? i don't want to anger anyone, but i'm tired of trash all the time.

to make matters worse, i got a letter from the city water co. saying that my water was running down the street, when i know it wasn't me, it was him? my lawn is dry as hell, and his is like a golf course!

Confront him first. Be as sincere and direct as possible. "Is there something wrong? I never wanted to have any problems."

There's a slight chance that wind might have blown their junk into your yard (it's happened in my neighborhood), so you don't want to accuse them of it unless you've caught them red handed. Then it'll just make it worse if they had never done anything and your pointing the finger at them.

The camera thing is pretty cool, a good idea if you can afford it. But before you go to the police, try and confront him or you'll just have even more trouble on your hands if he gets pissed and holds a worse grudge.

And by the way, they sound like real children for acting that way. Good luck with it all!

Send him a certified letter explaining that you are not sure why they are angry with you but you would really appreciate if they would stop throwing garbage on your lawn or property. Tell them you just want to enjoy your home in peace, and you will grant them the same courtesy. Although you would prefer for this misunderstanding not to escalate, if they continue the behavior, you will have no choice but to involve law enforcement. Save a copy of the letter and the receipts so that if you ever need to take him to small claims court. And check your water bill and meter. He might have turned your water on when you weren't home if the water company contacted you.

I think I would make it a point to be outside when she is out there and try and be exceptionally nice to her. Maybe her husband is a player and has cheated on her before. Could you put a motion sensor light on the wall to "catch" them in the act of trashing your place. I would call the city and explain the situation to them about the neighbor with out going into to much detail, just state your lawn is brown and his is golf course color. Maybe they are messing with your water when you are at work. make friends with other neighbors and see if there is under lying problems with them through out the neighborhood.

Have you gone over there and asked if you have done anything to offend them? If they are unwilling to talk then I guess you could ignore them. If the keep throwing trash on you lawn then I would set up a hidden camera and get it on camera. Then I would call the police. Can you move or do you think they will move anytime soon?

I normally just answer the question first, but the video camera idea is a great idea.
Do these people own or rent? If they rent find the owner and call them. Tell him that you are going to put the "arm" on them and maybe sue them, and the owner won't want any headaches, that might work. Other wise go to a Santero or Santeria Babalawo and have him hoodoo voodoo their ***. Thats an option you aint gonna get from Anne Landers or Dear Abby!

set up a video camera if you have one or try to get still photo's of him/them dumping the trash in your yard, same with the water and show the water co. exactly where the water is coming from. Once you get the evidence on the trash call the cops and have the s.o.b. for littering.

Call the county where you live and report the trash. They will investigate this matter, and as for the erection, it sounds like he is a bit of a pervert and you need to proceed with extreme caution, for you don't know this man and what he may be vapable of. Good luck and God bless.

Have you reported him? I would. There's no need for him to do something like putting trash in your yard and making water run down the street and then blame it on you! Don't speak to him. No need to try to be friends even if he is your neighbor. One day he will need your help. At that time maybe you could help him out and y'all could become friends if it means that much to you .......sneak a camera and catch him in the act thenREPORT THAT BASTARD.

If it was me I would through his trash back into his yard + all of your trash too. But that wouldn't be very civil. Go and talk to him, get it sorted out, you really dont want a neighbour who you don't get on with!

It's probably something really stupid. If that fails though, goto the local authorities. I would try reasoning with him first though, but if he isn't prepared to talk to you and sort it out, then he can't expect you to just let him get away with it... so yeah, local authorities.

About the water thing, just inform the company that it clearly isn't your water?

Good luck!

You realise he's doing it on purpose to get you back over.
So heres what may work, borrow a dog for the weekend and
allow him to do his business on his lawn with out the chap noticing of course.
As for the water find out where its leaking from and dig a channel
back to his yard.
