I don't know about other women but i feel much better after the fact, and my tummy doesn't hurt anymore. If my child applauded i would take a bow and say thank you, even if it were in public. If you gotta fart let it go is my motto. God made it sound funny for a reason.

Feel better and laugh with the child. It is just natural, just try and keep it in check in public so the kid knows the difference between manners and kicking back with a good laugh and bodily function!
Maybe teach the kid how to arm pit fart to impress his/her friends.

I bet I would feel relieved. And I don't have a child, but if I did, and they applauded at my flatulence, then I would take a bow.
