Some people are very good at lying. Both to other people and themselves. He may very well mean it when he says he won't smoke. Then he sees the temptation and simply can't resist. There is not much you can do. Encourage him to seek professional help is probably the best.
You say you won't break up with him about this so you have made your decision but the old saying is true, you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

If you aren't gonna break up with him over it, shut up and quit whining. You choose your own path in life and you choose to stay with a drug user. He's not gonna stop until he decides and that may be never.
Great choice though, nothing like a lazy pothead to be your future husband and the father of your children.

If you want to keep this guy, then you shouldn't let it upset you. He knows how bad it is upsetting you, that's why he continues to do it. You're letting him win.
His problem can't be helped unless he wants to be helped.
The solution is up to you.

Oh, we are too perfect for eachother...
I have the same problem with my boyfriend...
I just tell him, that I want nothing to do with him while he is high, and if he comes home like that, I will kick him out MY house...
It's one thing when he tells me he's gonna do it, because at least I can get mad at him when he's sober, but when he lies to my face, I get PISSED...
[I would never break up with him either - i love him]

I think you already know the answer to your question. Be careful what you wish for. You may just get more than you can handle. If you care that deeply for him, hang in there . And if he want stop for himself maybe he'll stop for you. Good luck.

Then don't ask for advise. You are going to put up with him and his ways. He will keep doing it until you make a stand. Be prepared to let him go. He is not going to change. I f he can't quit for himself he sure as heck is not quitting for you!

Explain to him exactly how he's acting, for example, say "you're acting like a moron" and not "you are a moron." From personal experience I find that people listen to you when you use that technique, plus they have no right to get mad at you.

Sounds like you are going to enable him by standing by him. Why should he quit? He knows you are wrapped around his little finger.
