The difference between cell tech. generations is the system capacity/data rate. 3G tech. such as EVDO or HSDPA is rolled out now and theoretically offers around 3 Mbps, in practice 1Mbps. 4G will be equivalent to your WiFi speeds, looking at 100Mbps. It'll be using WiMax tech.
