I have a friend who is living in a duplex and pays $170 a week.. no credit check. My husband and I are trying to find someplace... that does the same, but isn't that much. Anything would help, and please, no shelters.

You may need to line up some personal references in lieu of a credit check.
Start with the classified ads of the newspaper for that area. You're more likely to find a person renting out a home that won't do a credit check versus a property management company that would do one.
Offering to pay 1st and last month's rent might help, if you can afford it.
