What type of cards go in a PCI-E 1-15x? I know video cards go into 16x speed. This mobo I am thinking of getting has one PCI-4x and two PCI-E 1x?

Here is url is you do not know what I mean. Network cards from what I know use PCI and maybe PCI-X. Video cards use AGP 4/8x
and more commonly PCI-E 16x. Sound cards also use PCI correct?

I know enough about computers to know that true video cards use 16x PCI-E. I would never buy a mobo if it did not have at least 2 PCI slots and a PCI-E x 16 or better in the future, We all know that in 15 years from now video cards will not use PCI-E.

If technology continues to grow the way it is now in about 10 years the average PC will use over 32GB of ram. In 16 years the average PC will use over 128GB of ram.

So from what I said about the average ram a computer uses Doubles every 1-4 years. 64MB around year 1991. 128,256,512,1GB,2GB so thats 5 doubles in about 15 years. By year 2022 it should be 4GB,8GB,16GB,32GB,64GB at least.

PCI-E is becoming the standard to replace any device that used PCI or PCI-X in the past. It will take a while, and even the consortium that backs PCI-E predicted it will take almost a decade for this to happen.

Think of anything you can buy in PCI today - network cards, TV Tuner cards, USB 2.0/Firewire cards, etc. These are all now becoming available in PCI-E x1 and x4 formats. Look for yourself on the website in your question:

The process of changing over will continue to be slow, mainly because newer motherboards that have PCI-E ports already have most of those components integrated (such as the NIC and USB/Firewire). Video cards are the most popular for PCI-E at the moment, because any good gaming system can't have that component integrated on the mobo like the NIC or USB ports are.

Over time, as other types of technology and add-ons come out, companies might be more inclined to just release it as a PCI-E card versus trying to get it integrated on an already crowded motherboard. "Integration" was the thing to do when PCI was becoming too slow, but now that we have PCI-E, manufacturers might not bother with integration as much in the future.

You don't have an AGP slot so forget about it altogether. As far as PCI slots go, if you do a lot of game playing get a card for the PCI-E 16x it is the fastest slot. But if you only serf the net you can find video cards that go in standard PCI slots. they are very cheap but very slow if you use games a lot. You can get video cards that fit any of the slots you have. PCI 4and 16 are faster and for game playing(and cost more). Just make sure ANY card you get will fit in the case. Some case - motherboard combinations with a LONG card will not fit because of SIZE.
Go with what you can AFORD any PCI video card will work for you. Newegg and Zipzoomfly have lots of them.

PCI-E slot will be for a video card. It will be a 16x, so when buying a vid card, you need to purchase a pci-e, which is pci-express.
4/8x Video cards...will need an AGP slot as you mentioned.
PCI slots can be for networks cards, sound, and things of such.

EDIT:: although it is interesting, says it has 3 pci slots, plus those pci-e. Not exactly sure what the 1x and 4x are.

Outside of a PCI-E 16, there really isn't much else at this time for any of the other slots. There are some RAID controllers and network cards, but overall, I've found all the different PCI-E slots to be useless outside of the 16x for the video card.

Im guessing its some sort of new slot / standard that will b used more commonly for faster transfer through pci slots. kinda like how ide went from ide 2 sata, usb went from usb 1.1 to usb 2.0.

All current graphics cards are pci-express x16 so no need to worry if it won't work with the mobo, it will work.
