If I go any farther left, I will fall off.
To me, a person has moved too far to an extreme when they support unconstitutional measures or support legislation that hinders individual rights.
I will explain as I see it:
I am considered far left because I am pro-FDR's New Deal, gay marriage and pro-choice. All of which do not hinder anyone's rights. The extreme right is anti-all of the above which do hinder individual rights.

I think that it can go either way. I consider myself a liberal, but there are alot of issues that I agree with the conservatives on too. E.G. Death pentalty, and right to bear arms and prayer in school. However, I'm pro choice when it comes to abortion, and I don't believe that it makes any difference how many parents are in a home, as long as the parent thats in the home loves the children, and I believe that if gays want to be married they should be allowed too. So, when I vote, I vote for the person who seems to have the best solution for our economy and the person that seems most honest. Dem/Rep, it really doesn't matter much to me.

I would define going too far as behaving with either one or the other of the following manners, or a combination of both depending on the severity of each.
Advocation of policies that serve narrow self interests, defended by weak principles, though said weaknesses might be rather subjective determinations.
Immoral methodology towards achieving those policies.
For example, one who believes that something is wrong because of his religious beliefs has a weak principled basis because his beliefs cannot be imposed on others in an equitable society, but he may, as is his right, believe his principles to be morally correct, as they might have been inspired by, and meant to effect, such universally prized goals as harmony, peace and love, etc. Thus, he might contend, his principles are strong, as is his commitment to them.
An example of the second manner is when character is maligned, especially without at least strong proof that it is deserved. Even if the attacked character is otherwise deserving, if the attacks are not based on strong evidence of guilt and culpability for the improper acts to which the attacks are a response, that method is unethical.
Going too far is being unfair for one's own good and not having the decency to admit to it. Going to far is rationalizing improper conduct. Going too far is imposing will and attacking fair, and fairly presented, dissent. Going too far is thinking your beliefs are law.

... I lean to the liberal side... and I get tired of the 9-11 conspiracy stuff (if it's a government conspiracy, we're all way beyond screwed)...
I also get tired of the baseless Bush bashing... when there are so many factual, citable things to discuss about him...
I'm also a little more pro-military than most and I think we should attack al-queda at the source...
I get a little tired of the ultra-hippies... but they are speaking their mind, and it's the American way... but I think they may do more damage than good at times... you still need to have some common sense...
those are the major things... more annoyances than "too far" for the most part... it's a free country and we aren't killing people

hmm im not sure if i understand this question, but i think people are drawn tightly together to their views or "morals" that people do not see the big picture or whether or not a positive can happen. strongly divided to the point that a vote could make it go either way? i hope i answered this right. i think i fall in between because i agree with some views on both sides

Well, I don't fit the GOP mold since I support free speech and the environment, so I'm about to become an oddball Democrat who is pro-life and pro-gun. I think moderates are about the only ones really thinking straight these days.

I believe that a government regulated economy is too far left. I share many socialist ideals, but that is not one of them; if economy shapes a society, then surely a free market is what's best?

moderate republican-- too far right would be to blindly support Bush.... I will agree that his tatics and oratory skills are lacking, but what would the other party had done if they were elected scares me...
