Just keep in mind that the lawyer will end up with more than half of the money. Your friend will have to pay his doctor bills out of that money. The lawyer will get a new mansion. I'd go for at least 10 million.

I think thats enough considering that your frend lived...that drunk driver got off easy...hes lucky he didnt kill anyone because not only would he of had to pay 3million or more if he lost in court but he also would have went to jail much longer and he would have to live with the guilt of causing an avoidable death to an innocent person....but then again I sort of think 3 million is a little much i mean like i said...your frend is alive and is going to be ok. The driver is going to serve some time in the end and if hes average hes going to feel some sort of guilt...so that alone is bad...if you ask me 1 million would do it.....i mean honestly you'll be lucky to get that much when you think about it....plus car damages, and if you have insurance you'll be fine on that so....you know...
Go for it see what happens but you may want to sue for lease unless you have a really good reason that is full proof and will stand up in court.....but hey thats just my opinion, it didnt happen to me....so i dont know all the facts
Hope this helped

I think that is a little much to ask, especially since your friend lived. Sad to say, but at best, it sounds like your friend may get the cost of medical treatment reimbursed and maybe some extra to cover pain and suffering. An underage driver usually gets a slap on the hand and some driver education videos to watch and the parents have to pay for their mistakes. Your friend should get something, but I wouldn't expect that much.

Well, here's the issue. Yes, the compensation is well worth over three million dollars. However, because the driver allegedly was under age and under-the-influence, his liability will be severely limited. And if the parents are sued, and if then they simply file for bankruptcy, the recourse for compensation is minimal at best.
My best advice is this: be thankful for the things we have, instead of constantly worrying about the things we don't. Three million dollars isn't going to bring happiness to anyone. Simply settle for the medical bills and move on with life!

Depends on what you think your friend is worth. Remember your attorney will take about 1/3 of what you make. So if you ask for 3 million you will get 2 million. then you have taxes. Yes you have to pay taxes on it. Now he's got 1.5 million. What would his earning potential have been. I've made $250,000 in the last 6 years and I'm a nobody.
Plus don't forget he will have medical bills the rest of his life.

The amount is not controlled by the family, this is controlled by the insurance companies involved, as well as the judge, and jury. They can ask but what is granted is not always the same. By the virtue of the fact he can walk will reduce the award substantially as he will still be able to earn an income.

Sue the kid and his failures for parents for everything they'll ever have!
Your friend was an innocent person who was violated by an underage drunk in training. His parents are responsible for his actions, and their actions for not bringing up their child with more sense.
Sue them for everything-they need to know how it is to be screwed-no grease, no kiss, no slap on the butt!
Tell your friend to hang tough.

I see and understand what you're sayin', Spartan, but money is needed to be recovered for having medical bills that's coming out of the pocket. And what if he could not pay for a lawyer?
The kid's parents can punish him somehow where he'd have to pay them back, and jail time is not bad at all. Along with alcohol rehab, even the kid's not an alcoholic. Give the person a reason not to do it again.

Lawyer fees, Hospital fees and medical attention fees....
Plus a broken neck , never being able to be yourself in whole again...I would say , nothing, not even money can change that, it's sad, but it's how society works..So we get what we can to help us in anyway to our troubles...
