Unfortunately, we don't always plan as far ahead as we would like for these things. It is accurate that skipping the reminder pills and starting with the next pack immediately after finishing your last active pill can allow you to skip a period, but the first few times you might experience break-through bleeding, etc. You should be able to contact your doctor's office and they can confirm even over the phone that this would be okay. Also, if it's just a one-shot thing, you are quite likely to experience severe cramping, etc., the next time that dreaded monthly visitor comes to call.
And yes, there is a birth control pill that allows you to skip your periods, but it is Seasonale, not Yasmin

Start taking the pills from the first week of your next pack during the week you should be taking the placebo pills.
However, nobody I've known who was on a triphasic pill like Ortho Lo has been able to successfully skip a period. When I tried it, I bled and/or spotted for two and a half weeks instead of the usual five days.

I've used Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo before and all you need to do is skip the last week of pills, the inactive ones (I think they're green) and start on day 1 of another pack. In other words, don't stop taking your active pills and it SHOULD work right away...but what the other girl said was right...usually when you skip a period, the next one comes with hellified cramps!

I wouldnt worry unless you are sexually active, which I doubt you are at such a young age. It is normal for girls to have on and off periods when you are just starting, but if it continues, and you don't get another period for a long time (6mnth or so) contact you doctor as it may be something else like polycystic ovarian disease (PCOS). Myself, I had normal periods throughout my youth but when i was 18 they stopped, and only come once every couple of months, then at 21 I was diagnosed with PCOS. Dont worry about that now though, its perfectly normal at your age for that to happen, just keep an eye on it, and write it down when you do get it, that will help keep track of them.

its really not a problem...you have to trick your system...just continue the actual birth control pills and skip the ones that allow your curse. there are actually birth control pills on the market these days that only give you a period every few months. call your dr if you are worried...this is not an uncommon thing...women do it all the time

No, don't skip it. Keep taking the pills, but not the last week (which is usually the pills without hormones). Start the next month's pack.
This isn't that good for you, so I'd suggest talking to your doctor about it.

you can skip over those sugar pills they put inthere and just start the next pack imediately after finishing one, but let me causion you. I tried it and the period i had after was excruciating. I had the WORST cramps ever! Advil didn't even help. Nor did chocolate or a heating pad.
BTW, what LUSCIOUSBROWN said about yasmin, it's not true...that's what i take and you still get your period once a month.

you skip the last week and start a new pack when you should be taking the sugar pills (last row) of the old pack, by taking all active pills it will make you miss a period..maybe not right away though

Stupid misconception! Don't believe everything you hear, or you might become pregnant! You need to say on your pills faithfully!
