I believe their economy is growing rapidly. At the same time their pollution is wreaking havoc around the world. They do not have the pollution controls we do so their businesses produce goods cheaper than anyone else.

The China Govt has 30 million new student coming into there work force each year . There are overbuilding and over pollution the economy . It won't be long before they have real problem .Like work force demanding better wages and better living standard . I think the China government will bail out all the factories that will not have any work . They have Hugh environmental problem because if they enforce the regulation they lose business . So the local officials there aren't making anyone do anything . Just like the housing market here going to hurt are economy they have Hugh problem and no easy way to fix it .

I think it's a bit of both. Their economy IS growing really quickly, but I don't trust their numbers. Aside from the natural instinct to exaggerate, I don't think they have the institutional ability to come up with accurate statistics. Things are moving too quickly there to measure well.
