The tragedy of the twin tower in New york shows USA is vulnerable to terrorism attacks. If Bush does nothing to defend his country, then USA citizen would call him a wimp. Now that he send troops to fight in middle east for defending his country, people are making judgements on him and his policy...what do you recommend the US president should do in dealing with this issue?

You have your 'assumptions' confused...

No one called Bush a whimp for sending troops into Afghanistan. Al Qaeda was based there and they are the ones behind 911. (see 911 Commission Report). Iraq had nothing to do with terrorism.

So, the war on terrorism and Bush doing the right thing has nothing to do with Iraq... actually Bush's pre-emptive invasion of Iraq brought terrorists to that region.

You republicans just fall in line while us democrats speak out against this error in judgment... what is wrong with you ppl?

no one is questioning whether or not he should have defended our country against senseless terrorist attacks. what I question is why take a detour from the original mission and go after someone who wasn't involved in the 9/11 attacks? If we had no direct evidence that hussien was involved we should have, in bush's words "stayed the course". We should have stuck with going after bin laden. bush said that we would find him "dead or alive". well, we all see how that has turned out. For all of the technology that we have and we can't find one guy??? I find that more than just a little suspicious. we all know that he is just finishing what his daddy couldn't. he called Kerry a flip-flopper in the last elections... the bush admin. is the biggest flip-flopper in history!!! he lied about iraq having wmd's, he over-stepped his presidential powers when he decided to illegally tap phones, among other things. 5 years since 9/11 and we still have not learned anything from that day.

"Now that he send troops to fight in middle east for defending his country, people are making judgements on him and his policy..."

Defending our country was accomplished by invading Afghanistan. We screwed that country up pretty bad. But thats not why "people are making judgements on him and his policy." When was the last time you heard someone criticize Bush by talking about Afghanistan?

Bush shouldn't have lied to the American public about the link between Iraq and Al-Qaeda. Bush should not have invaded Iraq to fufill the Bush family goals. Bush should have his mind on the stability of the middle east and world, not about how gas prices are.

Well I can't recommend to the President that the best option is to cut our losses and stop meddling with sovereign nations, because he would never do such a thing.

So to deal with the issue of dissent among the public, I would advise Bush to do exactly what he recently did. Raise public fear by declaring new threats and trying to change the face of the enemy to suit his own polticial agenda.

"One of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror" -Bush

I wonder why.

I think he should start dealing in facts.
If we wanted to get at the people who financed the people who perpetrated 911 Gitmo would be filled with Saudi Princes.

Why were no WMD's found in Iraq?
Because they weren't any.
Iraqi Freedom?
If the Iraqis wanted to get rid of SADDAM they could have done it themselves. They seem to be pretty handy with weapons.
Iraqi democracy.....laughable.
Pulling down Saddams statue with ropes....photo op.
Fools comparing American troops arriving in Baghdad to the liberation of Paris in WW2! How gullible can you get?

Iraq is a waste of time, lives, and money.

If not for oil ,the MIDDLE EAST would be WORTHLESS.
Thats all they have.
And hopefully...when we finally get our heads out of our *** and use less and less oil and more and more alternative energy sources the happy day will arrive when they won't have anything to sell. And they won't have anything but sand.

And Dubya is going to go down in History as the worst president the U.S.A ever had.

Bush is fighting a war his daddy couldn't get done when he was in office, Look Iraq didn't have anything to do with 911 and yet he said we had to go in and free them people, them people hate our guts and are killing our people. Bush admitted on TV Iraq had nothing to do with 911. Yes Saddam was a monster but we have him now it's time to bring home our troops alive. If he wants to fight a war go after Bin larden who laughed at 911 and said we was not done suffering and his men keep sending message to the American people saying if we don't join them we will die..

It's not the abstract goals. It's the means being used.

War on terrorism. Goal: prevent terror attacks against the US. Method: have all our troops in Iraq -- does that method accomplish the goal? Many people come to different conclusions.

Bush. Goal: protect America. Methods: use illegal programs that violate federal law. Alternative methods available: use legal programs that are just as effective. So, are the illegal methods being used justified, when legal means are equally available? Many people come to different conclusions.

As far as suggested alternatives, read the link below.

The USA is not divided about the war on terror. And, the opposition party does want it's power back. But the two should be confused as intertwined.

He has lost sight of the original mission and is instead using the "war on terror" as an excuse to further his, his handler's and his party's idealogical goals. Afghanistan leaps to mind - job left half done to go off half-cocked to Iraq.
