How many people have taken their lap top to Best Buy to be repaired? Did they tell you they were going to try to back up your files, which cost like 100 bucks. Then they failed to back up your files and everything was lost, and they didn't give you back the 100 dollars. Then they tell you you have to buy a new hard drive...

I know 3 people to which this has happened... I think it's just what they do. It's a conspiracy. I think they try to pull this crap on everyone they can...

Take if from someone that worked for the Geek Squad. They don't teach you how to fix computer. They are teaching there
"tech's" how to rip people off. They should not keep you money for the backup that was unsuccessful. I would also ask to see the diag from. Specifically the D Disk and DFT hardware diags. If they give you the crap of them not having any paperwork on it, dont believe it. They have to keep it on file for 1 year. The D disk and DFT are the hardware diags specifically for your harddrive.

I stopped shopping best buy a long time ago.
I went to buy a new laptop there, and they were having this big laptop sale. All the computers under $1,000 were inexplicably "out of stock" .... it was the first day of the sale ... I asked the guy about a rain check, he said no, they were just selling out current stock at those prices. Then he told me, as I pressed for more information ... well we wont have more into our stockroom from the warehouse until the sell is over, they are holding them there til then.

Needless to say, I went elsewhere and refuse to shop there now. I have heard a lot of similar stories, but nothing like that had happened to me personally there until then.

I call it crooked .. unfortunately its on the edge of legal so they can get by with it.

That happend to my friend. They told him " We need to replace your disk drive so we need to format your hard drive" quoted from the "geek". Those guys arent geeks, "there just a bunch of fat mexicans" quoted from a best buy manager. im not trying to be racist.
