Hi. I'm in an AP US History course. Tomorrow we have to do a presentation comparing the Chesapeake/Virginia colony with the Mass. Bay and Plymouth colonies... Well my teacher said to praise the colony we're chosen to represent (in my case Chesapeake) and try to come up with reasons that that colony is better than the Mass. Bay and Plymouth colonies. Can u guys help me make a list of pros (not cons) of living in the Chesapeake/Virginia colony versus living in the Mass. Bay or Plymouth colonies? I really need to ace this presentation so any help would be so wonderfully appreciated- and i know y'all would apprecitae 10 pts!!!! Please help!!

jamestowns cash crop was tobacco. it was located in the middle of the eastern seaboard so, it had a milder climate than the more northern colonies and, was better situated for trade with the northern and, southern colonies as well as, import and, export with europe. also, there was acess to plenty of fish and, game year round and, a longer growing season for staple crops.

Well, why dont you post your ideas and then people can offer suggestions. There is no point or value in having people do the work for you.

A good way to start would be to look at what the people who lived there at the time said. Why did the people in the Chesapeake/Virginia colony like it there. Consider debates between historical figures of the time. Thomas Jefferson and Washington, for example, who were of that region versus John Adams, among others, who were from Massachusetts. What defined them and the world they lived in? Since southerners and northerners did not get along very well even back then, it should not be difficult to figure out what the key differences were.

Focus on the differences.

~If you "really need to ace your presentation", get off your lazy but and prepare one. You could start by reading (god forbid) a little about Plymouth and a little about Jamestown. You might even consider narrowing down the time frame of the comparison, as it would have been much better to be in Jamestown in 1610, as Plymouth didn't exist at that time.
Gee, what happens when the teacher asks you to back up your answer and all you can cite is some bonehead on YahooAnswers. So much for the ace. Are kids really this lazy today, or is it simply ignorance bred of too much time at the play staition, on the cell phone and on-line? Can't anybody read or research anymore?
