"Top line" refers to the top line on a corporate balance sheet, which is sales or revenue. The "bottom line" is the top line minus expenses, which equals profits or earnings.

Revenue (or money brought in). It shows up as the first thing on an Income statement. Revenue minus expenses or costs equal profit (or the bottom line).
