I need to write a poem on your pride for the United States of America. I'm having a really hard time starting it off and what exactly to write about. If you could help before tomorrow I would really appreciate it! Thanks for your help!

Its seems annoying that he/she is making you write a poem on a topic that specific (poetry is only poetry if you feel strongly about the subject). Maybe I can give you some help though. First write down your most raw thoughts on paper (remember, poems dont have to rhyme, they just have to flow). Next look at the paper and revise it, leaving in the important stuff but taking out the over-dramatics, excessive anger and anything else unneeded. Finally, shorten certain lines and make lines flow better by removing and adding words (try to use strong action verbs such as scream instead of yell). Your heart pours out emotions and poetry is a revised form of that. Good Luck and I hope you do well on your assignment.

I love poetry. I am a poet of sorts. Here is a little something I call fat pig, I hope you like it. It is fictitious and does not represent any person or group live or dead. Any similarity is coincidental. The poem is for your use, if you wish.

Fat pigs and sweet corn, banana roast in the emu
Fat pigs writing poems about America, need it soon
Fat pigs swilling down rum, the sun low in the moon
Fat pigs scrambling lies, everything get high or DIE!

Fat pigs sensors the wisdom of free speech
Fat pigs wont be able to sustain through the breech
Fat pigs suck lifeblood away like pieces of eight
Fat pigs can sex themselves sez the mighty brain.

I hope you pick mine as best. Good luck on your project. I really need the 10 points. God Bless America!

Well the best thing to do is to decide what aspect of America you are most proud of or want to write about.... do you want to write about soldiers? The President? The founding fathers? Then think about how that particular person/thing makes you feel... maybe a news article or speech that has affected you strongly... what type of poem do you have to write? Look up examples of that type, or if it is just free verse or whatever you want... just write what you feel and go with it....

List five things you are proud of about America — in order. That's a good place to start. Then build a sentence or stanza around each one. Finally, edit the sentences for meter (and rhyme if you so choose).

The result should be the poem you seek.

Most poems have an 'a b b a ' pattern in other words the first and last line rhymne and the two middle lines rhymne. Think of song lyrics you know, most rhymne.

Pride in the USA?
That should be very easy to write about. What about the USA makes you proud? Think of it more as what America means to me and why I like it.

Here's one I wrote in 9th grade, & I got an A+ on it.

Though it's not SPECIFICALLY about America, it does have a strong political overtone throughout.

"Blood & Taxes"
by Lauren Clark

It's days like this, we're all to blame;
We fight & steal & lie to hide our shame.

Nobody gives help to the helpless;
No one will richen the poor.
It's days like this, when life seems hopeless;
Some days, I don't want to live anymore.

There's too much lust & too much greed;
We steal from the weak, what they don't have & we don't need.

As we build our castles higher, thier shacks crumble to the ground;
It's days like this, I can only hear this sound:
Rich man's cheer & poor man's mourn;
An angel lost & a devil found;
A planet dies & a star is born;
It wouldn't be like this if love had stuck around.

We push the poor man to the street,
With no clothes to wear or food to eat;
As we enjoy our mansions & mink fur coats
With our bellies full of wine & meat;
They survive on hurt & pain, as we force feed it down thier throats.

We buy the Kings another crown,
& kick the beggars while they're down.
Days like these, mountains crumble to the sea,
Where we've climbed so high just to drown,
Only knowing "Me, me, me".

Describe an eagle or anything else that symbolizes the United States and be sure to compare the strengths of the animal and the strengths of the country... Try to do this without actually mentioning what you are describing by name....

Formed in 1776
The nation grew from just sticks
As time passed on our heritage did too
And many different people our nation drew
Give us your poor statue Liberty speaks
And power was made - in decades not weeks
As always conflict has covered our land
But democracy demands it, it is our delt hand
So we speak our differences, the power that is great
and have become a world power - no nation can take.

For something this American, I suggest you do the easiest of poems: Japanese Haiku

3 lines

1st line - 5 syllables
2nd line - 7 syllables
3rd line - 5 syllables

Best part - it doesn't have to rhyme!

Example:

Anonymous.

Without flowing wine
How to enjoy lovely
Cherry blossoms?

Now put your U.S.A. rah rah hat on and write!
