Look in the opening pages of your telephone book. It will have a map of the United States. Locate your state and you will see what time zone you are in. Simple. Or pick up the phone, dial 411 for information and ask the operator.

the US is divided into 4 continental time zones. Hawaii and Alaska are under different zones than the main four...
Here's a rule of thumb.
Eastern....if you consider your state along the east coast...more than likely you are in the eastern time zone...places like New York City/NY,Jacksonville/FL, Tallahassee/FL, Atlanta/GA, Indianapolis/IN (although it is not considered part of the east coast...its oddly lumped in the eastern time zone due to it's location.
Central...generally if you are part of the central section of America more than likely you are in the central time zone. Places like Chicago/IL, Austin/TX, Oklahoma City/KS, Pensacola/FL (just about all of the Gulf Coast up and until the coastal areas of Tallahassee....northward)
Mountain....you can assume if you live in the eastern section of the rocky mountains, you live in the mountain time zone. Places like El Paso/TX, Salt Lake City/UT, Denver/CO
Pacific....generally if you are along the pacific coast of america you are in the pacific time zone, places like Los Angeles/CA, Portland/OR, Seattle/WA
There are only two sections of the continental US that do not participate in daylight savings time (turning your clocks backwards or forwards with the season to garner the same basic amount of light all year round) those places are the full state of Arizona and a portion of Indiana.
The time zones are roughly divided by the linear longitude lines that extend from north to south poles. They have been adjusted to fit with the full state line, in most areas, so that the full of the state can participate in the same time zone benefits.....with the exception of some long states like Florida, and states that a portion have been laid out to change from one side of the state to the other for border conflicts, like Indiana.
There are maps out there that show the boundaries of the time zones, usually found in your local telephone book, organizers, and technological devices that state they sport such features (ie clocks, PDAs, cells phones)
As you are driving there will be signs along major traveled highways and interstates.....otherwise you will never know unless you have a map or know in advance.
But that only covers the time zones in America... don't know anything easy for other parts of the world.

If you look at a good map of the US, you'll see the dividing lines, north to south, which mark the limits of each time zone.

Look at any map, or globe. Or ask your parents or teachers, or just about anybody really.
