with the protien spilling problem you are having you need to eat more you sound as if you are getting good prenatal care so you should do just fine. normal weight gain during pregnancy is 25-35lbs but i lost 10 and then gained 55 so each person like each baby is different also try very small meals often through out the day i had to eat close to 15 times a day but only ate approx 1/2 a cup of yogurt at a time

good luck

Although a pregnant woman should not be dieting, if she's doing everything correctly, it's still not uncommon to lose in the 1st trimester. I'm sorry that your doc was upset, but I have heard plenty of women say they lost in the arena of 15 pounds in the 1st trimester, especially if they started overweight or had severe morning sickness.

My doc told me that our bodies survive off of stores of energy and vitamins for the first 3 months, which is why having mild to moderate morning sickness normally doesn't hurt the baby. It is the 2nd trimester that the needs really kick in.

Also, according to the books, you're only supposed to gain 2-5lbs during the 1st trimester, even if everything's going normally...

Of course, with pregnancy, what is normal anyways!

Good luck!

I'm only two months along, but my doctor understood why I was losing so much weight. I've lost 10 lbs up to this point and she said it was very normal. I told her everything I was trying to eat (and what came up) and how I was keeping fluids in me, and she said that hopefully it will get better for me soon. She actually took me off of my prenatal pills to help with the morning sickness and put me on folic acid and other vitamins that won't make me as queasy. I'm surprised your doctor was so upset at you since this is so common with the first trimester. Don't worry, you'll most likely be packing on the lbs soon enough. Just make sure you aren't dehydrated and try to get as much food in you as possible (and keep what you can down.) Good luck :)

When I first found out I was pregnant I weighed 145, then I dropped down to 120. then when I finally delievered I was 150. So in reality I gained 5 pounds. It is normal.

my wife had the same problem, she got very sick and lost 10 lbs. by 5 or 6 months she was back to her starting weight and by the time she gave birth she had gained about 20 lbs.

In my second pregnancy, in the first four months I lost 25 pounds.
Then I regained it. If after your 4th month you still cannot gain then I would worry.

THE DOCTOR WILL GET OVER IT. AS LONG AS YOU EAT AND TAKE YOUR VITAMINS YOU WILL BE ALL RIGHT. SOMETIMES THE BABY TAKES IT ALL. I HAD NUMBER SEVEN A YEAR AGO AND I DID NOT GAIN ANY WEIGHT. I ALWAYS WOULD LOSE WEIGHT. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN MAD ABOUT THE SIXTY POUNDS.
